If I Go To Work, A Lion Will Eat Me

You can have results. Or you can have excuses. But you can not have both. If you want results, you will find a way to make it happen. If you are not really interested in results, you’ll soon find an excuse. Excuses bring us comfort. They help one to cope with their failures and shortcomings. But excuses can never deliver the fulfillment you get from doing your best work, all things considered. Your business and career is not manifesting at the level you want it to, because you love excuses over results.

Proverbs 22:13 says, “The slothful man says, There is a lion outside, I shall be slain in the streets.” This is a dramatisation of how ridiculous some of our excuses can be. How can any serious minded person be thinking, “If I go to work, a lion will eat me!” Lazy people use fabricated or exaggerated dangers to justify their inaction and avoid work or responsibility. They can make an excuse of not starting a business because they don’t have the skills. They choose to forget that skills can be learnt. Opportunities continue to slip away because a lazy person can not be bothered to even apply.

There is a principle of work in operation on the earth. Whoever does the most work wins. Apostle Paul writing in 1 Corinthians 15:9-10 said he worked harder than the other apostles. Attributing his incredible work ethic to the grace of God. God does not condone laziness. The grace of God is not a license to be lazy. You claim your life is not working, and nothing makes sense. But you would rather worry (which is useless), then pray and read the Bible. You have to identify the problems in your life, and search for truths, wisdom and skills that can help you get better results.
