You must have a specific goal in mind at this time. A type of result that can be tracked using a number. It is unhealthy to have big, unquantifiable dreams and visions. You would never know if you were on track or not. When the Lord chastised Joshua for being old and failing to complete his mission, it was not an unfounded accusation. In Joshua 13:2-5, the Lord goes on to list exactly what has not been done. Perhaps Joshua should have kept a list of what he needed to accomplish as part of his God-given mission.
To succeed in your calling or business, you must have a number you’re tracking. A way to determine if you’re on track, or not. If football matches were not determined by the number of goals scored by the two teams on the pitch, how would we know the winner? If you’re not tracking outcomes in your life, business or ministry by a particular number, how would you know you’re on track? If you want to avoid the kind of rebuke Joshua got, you must find a clear way to keep track of the things you want to do. And it has to be expressed by a number.
Take a long hard look at your dreams and visions. Then try to determine if you have a clear goal. You would then go a step further and see if your goal can be expressed in terms of a number. This number can be anything. It could be how many people you talk to every week. It could be how many pieces of content you publish on social media every week. You could be tracking how many hours of study you complete in a week. Just try to determine what your key performance indicators (KPIs) are, and focus on improving it. May God have mercy on us all.
