Leaving Behind Environments And Relationships That No Longer Fit

“Therefore come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord” (2 Corinthians 6:17). One of the hardest things about following God is leaving behind environments and relationships that no longer fit where He is taking you. Why do we crave acceptance from circles that clearly do not align with our future? Why compromise your Christian life and your vision just to blend in? Many destinies are suffocated, not because of lack of potential, but because of the company they keep. If the people around you don’t support your growth in God, then they are quietly stunting it.

A big part of fulfilling your mission in life is tied to who you do life with. Look at your inner circle. Who are the people you spend the most time with? Who are the voices shaping your decisions? Whether you realize it or not, relationships have consequences. Choosing one circle often means losing another. That’s just how life works. Some associations will open doors for you, others will quietly destroy you. If you want certain people in your life, you will need to step out from others. It’s separation that makes space for elevation.

At the end of the day, your mission will change you. It will change your priorities, your desires, and your relationships. The question is: how far are you willing to go in pursuit of your God-given calling? Will you keep holding on to connections that drag you backwards, or will you obey God’s call to step out and be separate? Great destinies require courage. The courage to leave behind what feels comfortable, in order to embrace what God has prepared. Come out from among them. Your future in Christ is too important to compromise. What are you doing with your life? And who are you supposed to do it with?
