Being obsessed with making heaven means focusing on principles of righteousness and justice, no matter the cost. It’s about prioritizing your spiritual journey and staying true to God’s commands, even if it means losing relationships along the way. Jesus teaches us in Matthew 10:37 that anyone who loves their family more than Him is not worthy of Him. Our ultimate goal should be to live a life pleasing to God, without being swayed by the opinions or actions of others. In the end, it’s your commitment to God’s principles that will lead you to heaven.
In Matthew 12:46-50, Jesus redefines family by stating that those who do the will of His Father in heaven are His true family. When His mother and brothers (who were not present at His public event) came to speak with Him, He stretched out His hand towards His disciples and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” This teaches us that our real fathers, mothers, spouses, siblings, and friends are those who are equally committed to God’s work. True kinship is rooted in shared dedication to the mission of the Kingdom.
Don’t compromise your mission to accommodate people. Don’t build your life around those who don’t share your values. Work out your salvation with fear and trembling, showing yourself approved by God as a diligent worker. Focus on fulfilling your divine purpose, trusting God to bring and remove people from your life as needed. Surround yourself with those who share your commitment to righteousness and justice. Let God guide your relationships, ensuring they align with your mission and strengthen your walk with Him. Focus on where you’re going, the people and relationships will take care of themselves over time.
