Understanding that our money comes from God is essential for financial stewardship. Everything we have, including our finances, is a gift from God, and we must be good stewards of these resources. The Lord owns the earth, its wealth, and everything in it (Psalm 24:1). These vast resources are available to anyone who is willing to serve a higher cause. Proverbs 3:9-10 reminds us that by honouring God with everything we have, we align ourselves with His blessings and provision. Your stewardship at this level will shape your next phase.
Maintaining financial integrity involves managing money wisely and avoiding the pitfalls of greed. 1 Timothy 6:10 (NIV) warns, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” It’s important to recognize that while money itself is not evil, the love of it can lead us away from God. By prioritizing our relationship with God over the pursuit of wealth, we safeguard our hearts against greed and ensure that our financial decisions are rooted in integrity. Consider ways you can resist the temptation of greed in your financial dealings.
Being a good steward also means using our finances to support the work of God and fund things that matter in life. This includes giving generously to our church, supporting charitable causes, and investing in ways that advance God’s agenda for your world. As we give joyfully and generously, we reflect God’s heart and participate in His work on earth. You have to get clarity on your role as a steward of heavenly resources. He gave you these resources so that you can get things done. You should also think about the causes and ministries that resonate with you and consider how you can support them financially.
