Let us consider the steps we can take to move beyond our limited understanding and achieve greater results. The first step is humility. Recognize that no matter how much you think you know, there is always more to learn. This humility opens the door to seeking wisdom from others and ultimately from God. James 1:5 tells us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him.” This means that God is willing to provide the insight and understanding we lack if we simply ask.
The next step is to actively seek feedback and new perspectives. Surround yourself with mentors, peers, and even critics who can offer valuable feedback on your work and life. You want to create a situation in which you are not the only one working on your goals. You must give trusted individuals permission to send thoughts your way. According to Proverbs 11:14 (ESV), “Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counsellors, there is safety.” Seeking advice from a variety of sources can help you see things you may have overlooked and guide you to make better decisions.
Finally, be willing to take action on the feedback and wisdom you receive. It’s not enough to hear good advice; you must also put it into practice. This might mean making difficult changes or stepping out of your comfort zone. This is the reason you have to prayerfully select the people you trust. Because you have to follow advice from trusted sources, even if you don’t understand it completely. True growth and improvement come by application, even when it’s challenging. Trust that God will guide your steps as you commit to growing and learning. You can move beyond your current limitations and achieve the higher-level results you desire.
