Who Is Carrying You?

There is a popular idea in our world that successful people are self-made. The Bible tells a different story. In Mark chapter 2, a man who could not walk was carried by four friends to Jesus. He could not get there by himself. When the crowd blocked the entrance, his friends did not give up. They climbed onto the roof, opened it up, and lowered him down before Jesus. The miracle happened to one man, but five people were involved. Nobody fulfills their destiny alone. Behind every visible success, there are often unseen people carrying burdens, opening doors, giving encouragement, providing wisdom, or simply refusing to give up on us.

The paralysed man is not the only person in that story worth studying. Look closely at the four friends. They carried another person’s weight. They invested their time, energy, and effort into helping someone else move forward. Many of us can point to people like that in our own lives. A parent who sacrificed for us. A teacher who believed in us. A mentor who corrected us. A friend who stood by us during a difficult season. A pastor who prayed for us. An employer who gave us an opportunity. A lot of times, God answers our prayers through people.

Take a moment today and ask yourself two questions. First, who is carrying you? Who are the people God has placed in your life to strengthen, guide, encourage, and support you? Do not take them for granted. Honour them. Appreciate them. Pray for them. Second, who are you carrying? Whose burden are you helping to bear? Whose journey are you making easier? The Christian life is not only about receiving help. It is also about becoming help. At different times, we all need people to carry us. At different times, we are called to carry others. That is how God builds lives, families, communities, and generations.
