You Do Not Get To Do Whatever You Like

Many people say they are purpose-driven, but they still live as if they can do anything they like and expect great results. Life does not work that way. Purpose alone is not enough. The world God created runs on principles. Because God is just, He also governs His creation through order and laws. If you ignore those principles, your mission will struggle no matter how sincere you are. Being called to something does not mean you can act carelessly or randomly. A purpose-driven person must ask serious questions: What principles govern this work? What must I do to get the results I want?

The Bible gives clear examples of this principle. In Genesis, Cain became angry when God rejected his offering but accepted that of Abel. Yet God explained the issue: “If you do what is right, will you not be accepted?” (Genesis 4:7). The problem was not Cain versus Abel; it was about meeting the requirements versus failing to get things done. The same lesson appears in the parable of the Parable of the Ten Virgins. Ten virgins were waiting, but five were wise and five were foolish. Being present was not enough; wisdom and preparation determined the outcome.

So do not pat yourself on the back simply because you believe you are on a mission. Being purpose-driven does not mean life will bend the rules for you. Talent alone does not guarantee results. A wise person stays humble, patient, and willing to learn. Slow down and study the field you are working in. Look at history. Observe those who are getting the results you desire and understand the principles guiding their success. Seek counsel from wise and godly mentors who can correct and guide you. Purpose must be matched with discipline, learning, and consistent effort if you truly want to see meaningful results.
