Do It For The Love

Your goal must rise higher than numbers, metrics, and credit alerts. Money is important, yes, but it was never meant to be the destination. Jesus taught us to pray, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth.” That prayer reorders our priorities. It shifts the focus from profit to purpose, from gain to impact. When money becomes the obsession, love disappears, and with it, meaning. But when love leads, provision follows. Your mission is not a hustle; it is a calling. It is work done in service to God and people. In the end, do it for the love.

“A wise man should have money in his head, but not in his heart,” Jonathan Swift once said. That distinction matters. Money belongs in your head, where you plan, budget, invest, and make sober decisions. It does not belong in your heart. Once money moves into the heart, it begins to rule, and that rule is never gentle. Obsession grows. Fear follows. Greed whispers shortcuts. Scripture warns us that the love of money pierces the soul and distorts judgment. When money becomes the driver, purpose suffers. Keep money as a servant, not a master. Guard your heart. Do it for the love.

Scripture speaks of a “labour of love” in Hebrews 6:10. Work done not for applause or reward, but flowing from genuine care for God and for people. God sees that kind of work. He remembers it. A labour of love is steady, patient, and faithful, even when results are slow and recognition is absent. It is work fueled by devotion, not desperation. When love is the motive, you don’t burn out easily, and you don’t cut corners. You stay faithful because your heart is anchored to something higher than profit. Let your work rise from love for God and service to others. Do it for the love.
