Stop Thinking You Can Fight Alone

Scripture says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood” (Ephesians 6:12). Not I wrestle. “We” wrestle. That word matters. No matter how gifted, prayerful, intelligent, or wealthy you are, a day will come when the battle before you is bigger than your personal strength. Life has a way of cornering even the strongest people. On that day, talent will not be enough. Money will not be enough. Spiritual gifts alone will not be enough. The real question is simple: when pressure comes, do you have a “we”? Or are you standing alone, fighting battles never meant for one person?

Our Lord Jesus made this point using a surprising story, the parable of the shrewd manager (Luke 16). A manager hears he is about to be fired. He knows he cannot survive alone. He says, “I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg.” So he acts. He goes out, builds goodwill, reduces debts, and secures relationships that will receive him later. Shockingly, the master commends him, not for dishonesty, but for wisdom. Jesus says, learn from this. The man understood a simple truth: survival, progress, and victory often depend on people. He prepared a “we” before the crisis arrived. Christians must learn the same lesson.

Many believers say, “All I need is God,” and that sounds spiritual, but it is incomplete. Yes, you need God. Absolutely. But God Himself works through people. Our Lord Jesus did not run His mission alone. He chose twelve. He had seventy. He had women who supported Him financially. At His death, Joseph of Arimathea showed up when it mattered most. The mission moved forward because of relationships. Vision without people collapses under pressure. On the day of battle, you need men and women who will stand with you, defend you, and fight beside you. Build your “we” now.
