What is your mission? What have you come to do? Peter explained that Jesus went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him (Acts 10:38). In the same spirit, as you go about your daily life, you should be doing something good to your world. If you’re not mature or attuned enough to explain your purpose or mission, then consider working for the most purpose-driven person or business around you. The peace, progress, and prosperity we want to see in the world depends on the number of purpose-driven people working there.
If your mission succeeds, what would your world look like? And are you ready to sacrifice everything for the results you want to see? A better world depends on ordinary people like you and me, willing to go extraordinary lengths towards achieving their goals. Everything bad happening in your home or community today is the result of someone’s failed mission. Moses provided exceptional leadership and handed over to Joshua. After Joshua, there was no exceptional leader in Israel again, until perhaps Samuel and David. In some sense, the Book of Judges is a masterclass in what happens when a national leader fails in succession planning.
Think about what a perfect home would look like, and think about what it would take from you. Think about what a perfect community would look like, and think about what you would have to contribute. You need to imagine how better your world would be if you do not fail your assignment. Your mission might be the difference between years of peace and flourishing or years of kidnapping, banditry, poverty, and backwardness. If you genuinely believe that God can use you to make a positive difference in your world, then you owe it to us to deliver results.
