True Christianity Is Not Built On Ancestry And Bloodlines

Some traditionalists think Christians are misguided in labelling their natural ancestry demonic, and refusing to venerate their natural ancestors. Practices like pouring out a drink for the dead ancestors or worshipping them in any way is condemned in bible-based Christianity. These people think that when Christians call old cultural practices evil, they are being unfair and disrespectful. The belief is that the Christian missionaries didn’t understand local traditions and that treating them as bad or demonic shows a lack of respect for their ancestors and culture. This is a topic you need to understand properly. It goes a long way in determining your outcomes in life.

True Christianity is not built on bloodlines and natural ancestral flows. It is built on the truth of God’s word. For a Christian, their heritage is not their father and grandparents. Their heritage is in Christ, and the tradition of faith. Galatians 3:28 reminds us that in Christ, there are no ethnicities or nationalities. We are one in Christ. That being said, genuine Christians know to honor their parents, without crossing over into veneration, ancestor worship, or seeking any kind of communion with the dead. Jesus Christ is the only mediator we need (1 Timothy 2:5).

You must not allow traditionalists to bully you into demonic practices in the name of keeping tradition alive. Romans 12:1-2 makes it clear that one should not carry on customs and traditions without thinking about it. When we venerate Abraham, Moses, and Paul, we are not venerating some dead people. We are drawing instruction and inspiration for our own journey of faith. Every Christian denomination has their heroes of faith that serve as their “ancestry.” The Catholics have their saints. The Evangelicals have their heroes like Ayo Babalola, Kenneth Hagin, and many more. Your faith should be rooted in God’s word and people who represent the moves of God.
