Giving Up Today’s Treasures And Salaries For Tomorrow’s Vision

By faith, Moses walked away from the treasures of Egypt because he had seen him who is invisible (Hebrews 11:24-27). If you’re ever going to build something massive out of your business or ministry, you have to be ready to walk away from short-term pleasures and fulfillment. You must be willing to be uncomfortable today, so that you can be successful tomorrow. You have to give up today’s treasures because of something invisible God has shown you. Many people want to follow God, while holding on to Egypt and its treasures. They want to lead us to the promised land while remaining a prince of Egypt. It doesn’t work.

If you want to build a massive company from your business vision, there are 3 points to note. First, what can you see? How big is your vision? Do you see your company making money at all? Making money in millions? Making money in billions? Secondly, you have to realise that it will take time. Some simple research will show you that the billion-dollar enterprises, and global nonprofits take a long time to become global. Thirdly, you must be ready to give up today to pursue your vision. You cannot keep a seat at Saul’s table, while hoping to reign with David. Just ask Jonathan how that played out.

You have a mission to equip young people and help them acquire the skills they need to thrive. But right now, you want to go and find a job (the treasures of Egypt). This is destiny confusion at best. You must be ready to drink garri and suffer for the next 10 years, while your business or ministry picks up. If you have faith that your business can someday produce hundreds of millions in revenue every year, why can’t you give up your salary of hundred thousand to pursue it? Be like Moses, give up today’s treasures for tomorrow’s glory. May God have mercy on us all.
