In Acts 16:6-7, the Holy Ghost stopped Apostle Paul and his team from preaching the gospel. This is interesting to understand. A man walking in the will of God, desired to do something in complete alignment with the will of God for his life. But God did not permit him. This is a cautionary tale for us. Not every idea that we think is good, gets approved by God. It is not everything within the permissible will of God that you’re free to do. You have to pray and ask God for clear directions at every point in time.
King David desired to build a temple for the Lord. He consulted the prophet Nathan. Nathan told him to go ahead, praising the idea. But God shut it down. This story illustrates that even our noblest intentions must ultimately be aligned with God’s perfect will and timing. While David had a good heart for God, it was God’s plan and timeline that prevailed. You don’t get to do whatever you like, whenever you like, and however you like. This path is not about what you think is the best way forward. Everything must be subject to the will of God.
You should not start a ministry or outreach just because you feel it’s a good idea. That good idea can send you to an early grave. In Acts 16, the Holy Spirit forbade Paul from preaching. Preaching seems like a good idea, but God said no. If God is saying japa (relocate abroad). Do it. Don’t argue. Do not stubbornly sit down in Nigeria, trying to change the country. You might have preferred to stay back, but if God has other plans, drop your plans immediately. And realign yourself with God. Watching the world is not about what we want. It is about following the lead of God every time.
