You Are On A Mission For Peace

If you are looking for a divine purpose, you can find one by seeking and working for the peace of your community. Every God-given mission aims to bring peace to people and places. It is about welfare, security, health, and prosperity. So, stop looking for some vague mission. Psalms 34:14 says, “depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.” Our Lord Jesus said, “blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God” (Matthew 5:9). You can take a step of obedience today, right now, by starting to seek the peace of your surroundings.

How are you contributing to the welfare, wellness, health and prosperity of your world? This is the question that becomes the motivation for your mission. This question can be answered by considering what any mission-minded person or any mission-driven organisation is doing. Their actions help their communities combat illiteracy, disease, poverty, and other social ills. Consider the best schools in your city. Think about how their efforts are increasing the peace in the lives of their students, and by extension, the city. Consider the bakery in town, and how their daily operations ensure people can be fed.

There are simple things you can do at your level to ensure the peace of your world. You start at home. How are you contributing to the peace of your home and extended family? Are you a part of the problem or a part of the solutions? Then move a little further. Are you contributing to the peace in your office, school, or church? Your God-given mission is all about seeking and making peace in abundance. You can get started with peacemaking activities today. It is a great honour to be called a child of God. And Jesus said that title is for the peacemakers.
