Power in the Marketplace

In 1 Corinthians 4:20, Paul writes, “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.” This power is not just for pulpits and church meetings. It’s for boardrooms, studios, classrooms, and the marketplace. If you’re a Christian in business or any professional field, you must understand that the power of God is valid where you are. You’re not less anointed than a pastor just because you’re not preaching every Sunday. As long as you’re in the will of God, your business is a platform for kingdom expression, and power is part of that expression.

It may seem strange to talk about signs and wonders in your workplace, but God doesn’t limit His presence to church buildings. If you are building an organization with God’s guidance, you are building His church in a broader sense. And just like any church, your business will face resistance; competition, spiritual attacks, unexpected loss, even betrayal. But Jesus said, “Upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). That promise holds for businesses and institutions built on godly foundations. You’re not just running a company. You’re hosting a kingdom agenda.

So, do the work. Stop depending on the idea that your parents, spouse or pastors are praying for you. You need to also join in. Stay prayerful. Speak the Word over your enterprise. Believe God for insight, for favor, for protection, and for open doors. The same Holy Spirit that empowers a pastor to preach is the One who empowers you to lead, create, strategize, and grow. Don’t be shy about calling on Him in the middle of a pitch, a project, or a problem. You need the power of God more than you know. And yes, it is fully available to you in the laboratory, classroom, office or marketplace.
