Watching The World Begins With Watching Your Soul

A trending story this week involves a once-successful fashion entrepreneur who, after following a prophetess online, allegedly sold off her business, gave everything away as a “seed,” vacated her mansion, and took on a new identity. Her family, worried and confused, took to social media, and the backlash was swift. Much of it directed at pastors and prophets. Yes, there are wolves in sheep’s clothing. False prophets exist. But it’s not automatically wrong to radically follow a spiritual conviction. In the Bible, people gave all to follow Jesus. The issue isn’t sacrifice. It’s discernment. Who are you really following?

Jesus gave us a timeless filter in Matthew 7:16: “By their fruits, you shall know them.” Every true servant of God leaves a trail of fruit. In terms of lives touched, people discipled, communities changed. So, who is this prophet a fruit of? Who raised them? A true man of God has a traceable spiritual heritage. You should be able to find their pastor, or sending ministry. Next, ask: What fruits has this person produced? Have they also raised solid believers? Are lives being transformed in their ministry? Or is the entire ministry centered around drama, sensationalism, and giving? A tree without roots or fruit is not of God.

As we engage a world filled with spiritual voices, remember: every real shepherd leads people to Jesus, not away from wisdom, accountability. Ask hard questions. Is this person helping me grow in faith, or isolating me from truth? Does their teaching align with Scripture, or twist it for gain? The stakes are too high for blind devotion. Watching the world begins with watching your soul. A good tree will produce good fruit. If the fruit is hidden, absent, or rotten, trust Jesus’ words. Walk away. Faith is never blind. It sees clearly with the help of God’s Word.
