The Lie Of Miracle Money

A video recently trended online showing a large Christian gathering. At the center was a pastor praying dramatically “from his office” as he claimed divine authority. As he prayed, he began calling out the names of banks. One by one, declaring that members would receive “miracle money alerts” in their phones. With each name, the congregation shouted “Amen!” with increasing frenzy, eyes shut and hands lifted, waiting for an alert. It was a show. Yet, the most disturbing part wasn’t the pastor. It was the desperation of the crowd who actually believed him.

This is a dangerous mindset, and sadly, it’s become common in Nigeria. People no longer believe in work. They believe in luck, lottery, and now “miracle money.” They want alerts, but not labour. But God never blessed idleness. In Genesis 1:28, He said, “Be fruitful.” That means be productive, solve problems, bring value. Real wealth comes from work. God can bless your work. Not your laziness. Until we stop tying money to random miracles instead of productivity, our country will remain underdeveloped. There is no future for a people who wait for alerts without efforts. It’s time to wake up.

The Bible is clear. Consider Proverbs 12:24; “The hand of the diligent will rule.” This is God’s economic model. Stop chasing fantasy. Stop idolizing men who commercialize delusion. God gives power to get wealth, not shortcuts (Deuteronomy 8:18). The average Nigerian must relearn what it means to prosper. We must return to value creation. To building, producing, inventing, and working. We must repent from this madness that makes us think wealth comes by chanting bank names. If we keep embracing nonsense, we will keep sinking. We don’t need miracle money. We need miracle minds. And that takes work.
