Learning To Work With Others

Life and purpose are not solo journeys. To achieve great things, you must learn to work with others. Sometimes, even with those who do not share your faith or beliefs. This can be a sensitive topic because people’s true beliefs often shape their values and actions. That’s why discernment is key. Every situation requires wisdom and a case-by-case approach. But one thing is clear: isolating yourself from the world is not the answer. Even Jesus acknowledged that while believers are not of the world, they must still function within it (John 17:15-16). Your ability to collaborate wisely will determine your impact.

Daniel is a perfect example of how to navigate this reality. Though a devout man of God, he worked under pagan kings like Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar, Darius, and Cyrus. Each time, he found a way to deliver excellence while staying true to his faith. King Solomon also partnered with King Hiram of Tyre to build God’s temple (1 Kings 5:1-12). In the New Testament, Paul, a tentmaker, worked alongside unbelievers in business while remaining committed to his mission. 1 Corinthians 5:9-10 reminds us that avoiding all non-believers would mean leaving the world entirely! Instead, we are called to engage wisely.

If you’re serious about making an impact, you must learn how to build valuable relationships, even with those outside your faith. Not every partnership is wise, and not every opportunity aligns with God’s plan. But if you shut yourself off from the world, you limit your ability to influence it. May your watch not be in vain. Ask God for discernment as you navigate business, work, and life. Like Daniel and Solomon, be excellent in what you do, stand firm in your faith, and use every opportunity to glorify God. The world will recognize your wisdom and integrity, and through you, God’s light will shine.
