Romans 12:19-20 is clear: “Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord.” As business-minded Christians working in a marketplace that doesn’t always reflect godly values, it’s tempting to handle conflicts and relationships in ways that might seem practical but stray from our faith. The world teaches us to look out for ourselves and settle scores, but God calls us to a higher standard. Trusting Him to manage difficult relationships is an act of faith.
In a business setting, relationships can become strained. The pressure to succeed or the fear of being taken advantage of might push us toward revenge or manipulation. Yet, as believers, we are called to live differently. Romans 12 teaches us to leave room for God to act. Instead of planning how to get back at someone who wronged us or trying to outmaneuver others, we are invited to let go and trust God’s justice. When we hold onto bitterness or seek revenge, we only harm ourselves and distance our hearts from God’s peace.
Our Christian values can—and should—shape how we navigate the business world, especially in relationships. Choosing to forgive, walk in integrity, and let God handle our conflicts may seem like weakness in the eyes of the world, but it’s where true strength lies. It’s in these decisions that we reflect Christ. These are the things that make us standout. We can build healthier, more productive relationships in our work by trusting God’s way over worldly tactics. Instead of seeking payback, we open the door for peace, growth, and God’s perfect will to be done in every interaction.
