Many people admire great results but overlook the enormous work behind them. We celebrate victories while ignoring the discipline, preparation, and countless hours that made them possible. You need to understand that having talents, spiritual gifts, or an anointing doesn’t exempt you from working. Grace empowers you to work, not to avoid work. Throughout Scripture, those whom God used greatly still laboured diligently. Faithfulness requires effort. Excellence requires effort. Purpose requires effort. If you expect your mission to flourish while neglecting the work it demands, you will become frustrated. God blesses the work of our hands, but there must first be work for Him to bless with fruit.
Consider Samson. Empowered by God’s Spirit, he struck down a thousand Philistines with the jawbone of a donkey (Judges 15:15). Earlier, he caught three hundred foxes, tied them in pairs, fastened torches to their tails, and released them into the Philistines’ fields (Judges 15:4–5). However miraculous his strength, those acts still required determination and effort. Whether fighting a thousand men or chasing down foxes, it wasn’t easy. Consider Gideon also. Before God reduced his army, Gideon assembled thirty-two thousand men for battle (Judges 7:3). Gathering an army of that size required leadership, organisation, and hard work. Talent doesn’t remove the need for disciplined action and perseverance.
The same principle applies to your business and your calling. God may have given you a vision, gifted you with talent, and opened remarkable opportunities, but you must still put in the hours. You must learn, build, improve, serve customers, solve problems, and remain consistent when progress seems slow. Talent without discipline is wasted potential. Vision without execution remains a dream. Prayer without faithful labour produces little fruit. Refuse the temptation to romanticise success. Embrace the daily work your mission requires. When diligence meets God’s grace, your progress will eventually become visible for everyone to see.
