How And Why God Places You In Strategic Relationships

The Bible says God “sets the solitary in families” (Psalm 68:6), and also reminds us that even when father and mother forsake us, the Lord will take us up (Psalm 27:10). This shows that God is deeply involved in placing people in the right relationships. To do your best work that glorifies God, you need an enabling environment. Yet many people grow up without that support. In His mercy, God steps in and connects you with people who can help shape your life. These relationships may not be biological, but they are intentional. You must learn to recognize when God is placing you in such spaces.

Consider Moses. When God wanted to deliver Israel, He raised Moses, but did not leave him in a slave environment. Moses grew up in Pharaoh’s palace, trained like a prince, learning leadership and governance (Exodus 2:10). That exposure prepared him for his assignment. David also experienced this. Though anointed as king, he spent time in Saul’s palace, playing the harp and observing leadership firsthand (1 Samuel 18:10). These were not accidents. God used relationships and environments to prepare them. In the same way, He brings people into your life to teach, guide, and position you for your future.

You must take this seriously in your own life. Pay attention to the people God brings your way. Some are not just friends; they are part of your formation. Look out for mentors, spiritual fathers and mothers, and wise companions who help you grow. Do not ignore these relationships or take them lightly. Stay humble, stay teachable, and learn all you can. At the same time, be willing to step out of environments that limit your growth. God often answers your prayers for progress through people. When you recognize and embrace these divine connections, you create the right environment to grow and fulfill your purpose.
