Many Christians are loud about their faith but careless about their work. They want to announce they are Christians before they have anything to show for it. They wear Christianity on their sleeves and expect applause. But Jesus gave us a different template. Matthew 5:16 says people will see your good works and then glorify your Father in heaven. Not your slogans. Not your Christian language. Your work. Excellence is the message. Results are the sermon. In the marketplace, nobody is convinced because you shout that you are a Christian. They are convinced when your work shines, your standards are high, and your output speaks louder than words.
Everyone’s beliefs shape how they live, work, and do business. What you believe will eventually show up in your decisions, your systems, and your results. But it is not your claim of faith that convinces people. It is the fruit they can see. The Bible calls it the fruit of the Spirit. In business, that fruit looks like integrity, fairness, patience, and excellence. Take BOVAS Group, a major Nigerian petroleum company built by Dr. Victoria Adunola Samson and her husband. People celebrate BOVAS not because they shout their faith, but because the company is known for integrity. That integrity quietly points back to their Christian convictions.
Prophecies can be faked. Tongues can be mimicked. Religious language can be learned. But excellence cannot be faked for long. The marketplace is a brutal judge. It rewards skill, consistency, innovation, and results. You cannot bully the market into clapping for mediocrity. You cannot shout your way into trust. Over time, people are drawn to those who solve problems well and do their work with care. This is why excellence is such a powerful witness. When your work is solid, your systems are sound, and your results are clear, your faith speaks without noise. Light shines best through competence.
