Life Is Not About You

One of the most important lessons in life is this: it is not about you. You must learn how to share this planet with others, how to make room for them in your world, and how to allow your gift to minister to their needs. God did not place you here to live in isolation or selfishness. Jesus Himself said, “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31). That is the foundation of true living, recognizing that people around you matter, and your purpose will always connect with their well-being.

When you allow God to use you to reach others, you step into the true meaning of your calling. Philippians 2:4 says, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” That is the spirit of service. Your spiritual gifts, your resources, and your ideas, they are not just for you, but for the people God has assigned to your life. The more you hold tightly to yourself, the smaller your world becomes. But when you open up and serve, your life grows bigger, brighter, and more fruitful.

The truth is this: your mission will never be complete if it only revolves around you. A selfish mission is an empty mission. Jesus washed the feet of His disciples to show us the way (John 13:14-15). If the Son of God could stoop low to serve others, then we too must humble ourselves to make room for people in our lives. Ask God daily: “Who do you want me to serve today? Who do you want me to make room for?” Because in God’s kingdom, the greatest are not those who demand to be served, but those who serve.
