We should all agree that wanting the same things as non-Christians puts us in a bad spiritual place. It is not biblical for a Christian to be obsessed with making money. The Bible says that the just will live by faith. The good book also says that man will not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. A true Christian must prioritise a life of obedience to God over pursuing wealth and vain possessions. Christians are motivated by a sense of purpose. If you focus on your God-given mission and increase your productivity, the money will take care of itself.
So, will you make a million dollars? Actually, you don’t have to. The Bible does not explicitly state that all Christians will be millionaires. We can establish from scripture that every Christian will have an abundant supply. If you live a consistent life of obedience and faith in God, you will never be in need. The Bible literally states in Isaiah 1:19, “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good of the land.” That promise is enough to sustain any genuine follower of Jesus. An excessive obsession with money indicates that you do not trust God to provide for you.
If you’re struggling financially, start with the purpose question. Do you live a life of faith and purpose? You must seek something more than food, sleep, comfort, and money. You must begin to desire something beyond what the material world can provide. There’s a problem if you and a yahoo boy want the same things in life. Once you’ve discovered your purpose, focus on increasing your productivity. Be productive. Labour. Maximise God’s grace by doing the work. Don’t be a slacker who demands a high salary for doing nothing. God will bless your efforts. You may even become a millionaire.
