Watching the world as a professional can be misunderstood. Imagine telling someone that your mission is to help people look good, and so, you’re fulfilling that mandate by playing in the fashion space. Nobody can relate to that. You would struggle to justify such a calling. This is one reason why every Christian doing something outside the four walls of the church typically brand themselves “kingdom financiers.” In other words, what we’re doing in itself is not valuable. But it is all a means to an end. And the end is to support the preaching of the gospel.
This mentality is not so correct. You are too precious, and you’re just too gifted and anointed for your work to have no intrinsic value. Your work in itself should bring you a sense of fulfillment and alignment with what God is doing in your generation. If you are only able to justify your work because you’re able to support church work with the proceeds, it raises questions. Are you saying that what you do doesn’t matter as long as it brings in the money? Could you justify bribes and kickbacks, as long as such funds are used to support the church?
The time has come to realise that your work in itself should matter. There is no calling in the Bible explicitly labelled as “kingdom financier.” Every born-again Christian should do their best work that glorifies God. And as God blesses you, and multiplies your fruitfulness, you can choose to support the church and missions with that. Every member of the Kingdom should have faith to finance it. It is not right to pick a line of work because it promises the most financial rewards. You pick a pathway based on your God-given mission and alignment with your purpose.
