The Bible says in Romans 8:18, “the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” This is usually interpreted in terms of eternal life. But beyond that, we can also consider it as the process of becoming. Every true calling comes with a cost. Whether it’s the discipline of prayer and fasting or the pressure of learning new skills, the road to greatness requires sacrifice. Many people want to shine, but few are willing to suffer. Yet, in God’s design, what you call “suffering” is not punishment. It is preparation.
Glory is not random. It is the harvest of intentional labour. For your creativity and spiritual gifts to find expressions, there is a season of growth that’s required. And growth is painful. You may need to spend long hours in prayer. You may need to fast regularly to hear clearly from God. You may also need to attend school, acquire technical skills, or study for years before a real breakthrough comes. It can feel slow. It can feel hard. But don’t let the pain make you forget the purpose. The path may be narrow, but it is full of meaning.
The season you are in today may look like hard work, discipline, or even obscurity. But if God is in it, then glory is ahead. Your present investment is shaping future impact. Keep showing up. Keep believing. Keep building. When the fruit finally shows, it will speak for itself. And it will be clear that it was all worth it. The future glory will silence today’s complaints. So don’t give up. Endure the process. Watch the world, and become the kind of person who reveals God’s glory through excellence, depth, and dedication.
