You Must Understand How Things Work

Many gifted people are struggling. Not because they’re lazy, but because they don’t know how things work. You can be spiritually gifted, technically talented, and still broke. Why? Because value creation alone is not enough. You must also understand how to capture value. Ecclesiastes 10:15 says, “The toil of a fool wearies him, for he does not know the way to the city.” In today’s terms, it means you can be busy and exhausted, but directionless. Many are toiling without traction. They don’t know how to get their gift to market. They haven’t studied the systems that govern success in their field.

Take for example the young man in Lagos who knows how to build websites or shoot brilliant videos. His work is excellent, but he’s always broke. Then one day, he takes a marketing course and learns the basics of pricing, packaging, storytelling, and client management. Suddenly, things start to shift. Why? Because revelation without strategy leaves you stranded. The Holy Spirit is a Teacher, not just a Comforter. He teaches you how to profit (Isaiah 48:17). Your spiritual gifts are not complete if they don’t translate into tangible impact; economic, social, and cultural. Your brilliance must learn to speak the language of results.

So, sit down. Ask yourself: “How does my industry actually work?” Read the best books. Take a paid course. Learn from those ahead of you. The Holy Spirit can guide you, but He won’t do your research for you. Your fruitfulness is not complete until it affects the economy of your world. If God gave you a gift, it’s your job to learn how to multiply it. That’s not unspiritual. That’s stewardship. The kingdom needs creators, builders, and entrepreneurs who don’t just pray hard, but think deeply and build wisely. That’s how you turn fire into fruit.
