Your mission needs clarity. Without clarity, you will work hard but make little impact. And clarity doesn’t just fall from the sky. It comes through thinking deeply. But to think well, you need something to think about. This is why you must keep learning. Read books. Listen to wise voices. Study the field you want to influence. Curate knowledge around your mission. The more you know, the clearer your path becomes. Proverbs 15:14 says, “The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge.” When you grow in understanding, your mission becomes sharper. And your results become stronger.
Many people catch a big vision for change, especially in a place like Nigeria. But they crash along the way. Why? Because passion without knowledge and understanding leads to frustration. We’ve seen passionate Nigerians declare visions to transform the nation, only to give up later. They didn’t understand how the system works: the policies, the politics, the people. They assumed goodwill was enough. But the world is more complex than that. Jesus said, “For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost?” (Luke 14:28). Mission demands more than fire, it demands insight. Knowledge is the raw material for insight.
There’s a clear link between how much you know and how far you can go with your God-given mission. To fulfill your assignment well, you must build a strong knowledge base. That means doing the hard work of finding the best books, the leading experts, the best thinkers, and the best insights related to your mission. Read every angle connected to the work you do. It is your job to go out there and find the truths about your work. Aim to read at least ten excellent books on your subject. And don’t just read, study. Take notes. Grow your mind inorder to grow your mission (and your business).
