Romans 12:6 tells us that we all have different gifts, and we are to use them according to the measure of faith God has given us. But here’s a hard question: Are you operating your gift at the level you should be? Maybe you carry a solution that could change your industry, your community, even your nation. But due to fear, lack of confidence, or poor preparation, you remain silent. Some people are gifted by God to solve big problems, but they stay hidden because they never developed the capacity to show up at that level.
Think about Joseph. He had dreams as a teenager, but the real breakthrough came after years of training, through slavery, leadership in Potiphar’s house, and running a prison. By the time Pharaoh needed someone to save Egypt, Joseph didn’t just have the gift. He had the skill, faith, and courage to perform at that national level. What if Joseph had doubted himself in that moment? What if he had said, “This is too big for me”? God’s gifts work best when we grow into them with training, preparation, and boldness.
So maybe it’s time to look inwards. Are you short-changing the world by operating at a lower level than you should? Are you blaming lack of opportunities when it’s really lack of preparation and faith? It’s not enough to be gifted. You must be ready to use that gift boldly, wisely, and with excellence. Let God stretch you. Invest in growth. Push past fear. Because when the moment comes, the world won’t need your potential. It will need your performance. Let your gift rise to the level of your calling.
