Resist The Shiny New Object Syndrome

A man on a mission must learn to resist distraction. Not every open door is meant for you. Not every idea that excites you is an assignment from God. Many fail to manifest their calling because they are always running after the next big thing—the next business idea, the next ministry trend, the next shortcut to success. They start one thing, abandon it midway, and jump to another. Then another. And another. But nothing truly great is built this way. Hebrews 12:1 tells us to run with endurance the race set before us. Focus. Discipline. That is how you win.

A farmer does not keep uprooting his crops to plant new seeds every time he hears of a better fertilizer. A professional athlete does not change sports every few months just because a new one looks exciting. And yet, many entrepreneurs and mission-driven people abandon their work at the first sign of boredom or struggle. They get distracted by trends. They assume the struggle means they are in the wrong place. No! The struggle means you are growing. You must learn to recognize when an opportunity is truly from God and when it is just a shiny distraction leading you nowhere.

If you keep chasing every new thing, you will never build anything solid. All you will have to show for your skills and talents, will be a record of half-done, abandoned projects. Proverbs 4:25 says, Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Stay committed. Learn to say no to distractions, no matter how exciting they look. When God gives you a mission, He expects you to finish it. Stop quitting and restarting. Focus on what He has already placed in your hands, and you will see results beyond what you imagined.
