Forgiveness is one of the hardest things to do, yet it is one of the most important. Why is it so hard to let go of past hurts? What exactly do we gain by holding on to anger? Many believe that refusing to forgive makes them stronger or proves a point, but in reality, it only traps them in pain. 1 Peter 3:7 reminds us that even our prayers can be hindered if we do not walk in forgiveness and love. Forgiveness is not just for the other person. It frees us. It releases us from bitterness and opens the door for healing.
Choosing to forgive is not weakness; it is wisdom. It brings peace, restores relationships, and allows us to move forward. Imagine carrying a heavy load everywhere you go. Unforgiveness is that burden. It weighs us down, drains our energy, and steals our joy. It shuts down the move of God. On the other hand, forgiveness lightens our hearts and allows us to focus on the future. When you choose forgiveness and love, the power of God is manifested in your gathering with others (Matthew 18:15-35). History has shown that the greatest leaders and visionaries are those who chose to forgive rather than dwell on past wrongs.
Forgiveness is a path to strength, not defeat. Your future is too important to be held back by bitterness. Refusing to forgive is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to suffer. It does not work. And it doesn’t even make sense. If you desire success in relationships, business, and life, you must let go of grudges. Jesus, our ultimate example, forgave even those who crucified Him. Follow His example. Forgive, not because they deserve it, but because you deserve peace. Let go and move forward into the bright future God has for you.
