On Always Doing The Right Thing

It’s easy to believe we will always do the right thing—until reality tests us. When faced with tough choices, many abandon truth, not because of deep conviction or principle, but because of fear, pride, or emotional weakness. In moments like these, the flesh takes over, and compromise feels easier than standing for what’s right. Galatians 5:16 reminds us to “walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” True strength lies in trusting God’s wisdom and doing what is right, even when it’s hard or unpopular. That is how we grow and reflect His character.

Pastor E.A. Adeboye (General Overseer, RCCG) demonstrates this lesson over and over again with his actions. Faced with harsh criticism from TikToker SeaKing, Adeboye could have responded in anger or chosen silence. Instead, when he learned that SeaKing had been arrested, the respected cleric immediately called for his release and distanced himself from the incident. This response reflects true spiritual maturity—choosing grace over retaliation. Proverbs 15:1 reminds us, “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Adeboye’s example teaches us that real strength lies in showing mercy, even to those who misunderstand or oppose us.

It is easy to quote scriptures like, “Love your enemies” (Matthew 5:44), but when the time comes to live it out, the true test of our hearts begins. Would you really extend grace to someone who openly mocks or criticizes you? Pastor Adeboye’s response teaches us that it’s not just about knowing what’s right but choosing to do it when it costs us something. Grace is powerful because it is undeserved. When we show love in difficult moments, we reflect God’s heart and open the door for transformation—not just in others but in ourselves.
