The Wantrepreneur Is Watching The Winds

A “wantrepreneur” is someone who talks a lot about starting a business, but never takes the necessary steps to make it happen. They have plenty of ideas and dreams, but those ideas remain just that—dreams. They might spend time planning, researching, or talking about their future business, but they never take that leap into action. A wantrepreneur is one who watches the wind; waiting for all conditions to be perfect (Ecclesiastes 11:4). They never get started. Real entrepreneurs are those who move beyond talk and start working towards their goals, no matter how small the first steps are. A vision without effort is simply wishful thinking.

A wantrepreneur’s constant talking without action is much like the warning given in James 2:17, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by works, is dead.” Just like faith requires works to be alive, dreams of entrepreneurship require action to become reality. Talking about your business idea is not the same as building it. You need to move beyond words to take practical steps toward making it happen. Simply discussing your plans won’t lead to success; only tangible effort, like making decisions and taking risks, will turn your vision into something real.

Many people never take action on their ideas because they’re held back by excuses and fear of risk. They convince themselves that the timing isn’t right or that they need more resources, but these are just barriers to progress. The truth is, when we do nothing, we become nothing. Deuteronomy 28:12 reminds us that God blesses the “work of your hands,” but if we aren’t taking action, there’s nothing for Him to bless. A creative, business-minded Christian must strive to take consistent action every day, trusting God to work through their efforts.
