Accept The Responsibility To Develop Business Skills

Driving a car requires skill. Playing football requires skill. No one gets behind the wheel and expects the car to move safely because they feel inspired or spiritually stirred. In the same way, business does not run on vibes, feelings, or even raw talent alone. If you believe God has called you to influence the world through business, then you must also accept the responsibility to develop the skills that business demands. Vision and anointing may give you direction, but competence delivers results. You cannot approach business anyhow and expect meaningful outcomes. To build something that lasts, you must commit to learning, practicing, and mastering the craft of business itself.

The Bible gives us a powerful example in David. David was anointed as king while he was still a young shepherd, long before he ever sat on the throne. Yet the anointing did not make him a functioning king right away. He spent years learning leadership in the wilderness, serving in Saul’s court, commanding soldiers, and surviving difficult battles. By the time he ruled Israel, he had developed the competence required for the role. Scripture summarizes his leadership in Psalms 78:72: he shepherded them with integrity of heart and guided them with skillful hands. Character mattered, but skill mattered too.

The same principle applies to anyone who feels called to influence the world through business. Your calling may be spiritual, but execution is practical. You must study the craft, develop competence, and build the skills your mission requires. Learn how markets work. Learn how to manage people, finances, and systems. Treat your calling with the seriousness it deserves. When your natural competence meets your spiritual conviction, something powerful happens. What you are doing moves from ordinary effort into supernatural impact. But that transformation only happens when discipline, knowledge, and faith work together in the same direction.
