Take Full Charge Of Your Duty Post

There are ambitions that come from your selfish nature, greed, or the desire for applause. Then there are assignments that come from God. They burden your heart, call you to serve others, and refuse to leave you alone. Discovering such an assignment is only half the battle. The other half is showing up. Nehemiah said, “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down” (Nehemiah 6:3). God is not only looking for people who can recognize their duty post. He is looking for people willing to stand there faithfully, even when nobody notices.

Imagine someone who feels strongly that every year they should host a Children’s Day celebration for vulnerable children in their community. There is no salary attached to it. No promotion. No applause. No social status to gain. Yet every year, children are waiting for someone to remember them, feed them, play with them, and remind them that they matter. The idea came from God, but ideas alone do not bless people. Only obedience does. The children are not helped because you felt led. They are helped because you actually showed up.

What duty post has God assigned to you? Perhaps it is mentoring young people, praying for missionaries, supporting widows, teaching children, writing devotionals, or visiting the sick. You already know what it is. You know enough to take the first step. The problem is not ignorance. The problem is neglect. Nobody may pay you for it. Nobody may celebrate you for it. But heaven takes note of faithful servants. Man your duty post. Keep showing up. Keep serving. Keep giving yourself to the work. In due season, your obedience will speak for itself.
