The Hidden Years

Jesus spent thirty years in quiet preparation before three years of public ministry. David was anointed king as a young boy, but spent years tending sheep and serving Saul before the throne. These are the hidden years. Seasons where your calling is real, but your platform is invisible. It is the time when God is building character, depth, and endurance in you. You may feel buried, but you are actually being planted. Psalm 105:19 says, “Until what he had said came to pass, the word of the Lord tested him.” Let this truth encourage you: obscurity is not abandonment.

In business and leadership, we see the same pattern. Many great ventures were unknown for years before breakthrough. A good example is Zoom, the video conferencing platform. Eric Yuan, its founder, worked quietly on Zoom for years after leaving Cisco. For nearly a decade, the company was not well known. But when the world needed remote work solutions, Zoom was ready. The “sudden” success was the result of years of hidden work. Like a seed growing under the soil, your current quiet season may be where God is equipping you for your moment of fruitfulness. Do not despise the days of small beginnings.

If you’re in a season where your mission feels slow, unrewarded, or unnoticed, don’t give up. God is never in a hurry, but He is never late. These hidden years are sacred. Stay faithful. Keep sowing in prayer, study, and consistent action. You may not see the results yet, but your future harvest is real. As Psalm 126:6 reminds us, “He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy.” Your time is coming. And when it does, the world will not believe how long you’ve been preparing for it.
