Many believers admire gifted people from a distance. They watch gifted teachers communicate profound truths with clarity, observe entrepreneurs build remarkable companies, or marvel at artists and innovators whose work seems to flow effortlessly. Over time, they begin to assume that such people belong to a special class, endowed with abilities that ordinary Christians can never possess. But the Bible does not support that viewpoint. The Bible speaks of spiritual gifts, divine wisdom, creative power, and supernatural grace as realities that God gives to His people. The question is not whether these things exist. The question is whether we truly believe what God has said about them.
Consider Bezalel, whom God filled “with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills” to design and build the tabernacle (Exodus 31:1–5). Daniel and his friends received learning and skill in every branch of literature and wisdom, while Daniel was given understanding in visions and dreams (Daniel 1:17). Paul taught that there are different gifts but the same Spirit, distributing grace according to God’s purpose (1 Corinthians 12:4–11). These accounts are not decorative stories tucked away in Scripture. They reveal something profound about the character of God: He delights in empowering ordinary people for extraordinary assignments.
Too many Christians organise their expectations around human experience rather than divine promise. They accept that creativity belongs to a gifted few, or that spiritual power is reserved for some “prophets”. But transformation begins when we take God’s Word seriously. As you meditate on His promises, pray, obey, learn, and faithfully exercise what He has placed within you, your life begins to change. Paul writes that we are transformed as we behold the glory of the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:18). The life God calls you to live must first become imaginable to you because of what He has promised, not because of what you have seen.
