Keep Going Even When Your Confidence Is Low

Often when you are working at the frontiers of your calling, confidence is low because the full picture is not yet visible. New ideas, new ventures, and new missions rarely arrive with complete clarity from the beginning. Instead, you see only the next step. This uncertainty can tempt you to delay action while waiting for perfect understanding. But God does not often reveal everything at once. In Isaiah 28:10, the process is described as “line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little”. In most situations, you only need enough insight to begin. The rest becomes clearer as you move forward faithfully.

When you choose to work at the frontiers, you can be sure that there will be moments of self-doubt. You are not following the normal way most people live their lives. You’re stepping beyond familiar paths where maps are incomplete and outcomes uncertain. That uncertainty may lead to doubt. Everyone thinks you’re talented and gifted. But sometimes, you’re not sure. You’re not sure you are on the right track. The first thing you must do is to acknowledge your reality. You are a trailblazer. Trailblazers rarely walk roads that are fully understood in advance. Their calling often involves exploring territory others have not yet entered.

The journey forward requires faith and deliberate courage. You may not fully understand what lies ahead, and there will be setbacks. Yet progress belongs to those who move despite uncertainty. You must be intentional about building strength for that journey. A good way to build courage is by reading the bible. Stories of our heroes of faith will remind you that uncertainty has always been part of faithful living. Abraham walked without knowing his destination. Joshua led Israel into unfamiliar territory. Their examples strengthen your own faith. Let the Word shape your courage daily. Draw wisdom from those who walked before you, and step forward today with renewed, determined faith.
