To the Servant That Received a Single Talent

In the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30), the master gave one servant five talents, another two, and another one, each according to his ability. The assignment was the same. Do business with what you have been given. The servant with one talent did nothing. He buried it. When the master returned, he did not call that servant unlucky or disadvantaged. He called him wicked. That matters. Not using what God has entrusted to you is not neutral behavior. It is a moral failure. God expects movement, effort, and stewardship, no matter how small the starting point looks.

If you currently have one talent, do not envy the person with five. Scripture says the master gave according to ability. That means those with more once had less and proved faithful. Your present measure is not an insult. It is an assessment. Many people waste years despising their one talent, waiting for a bigger opportunity that never comes. Prosperity at your level means working fully with what is in your hand now. Faithfulness is how capacity grows. Comparison only delays progress. The master does not reward potential. He rewards stewardship.

The wise response to having one talent is action and learning. Seek counsel. Ask questions. Learn from those who multiplied what they were given. Say, teach me how you handled your season of one. Wickedness is refusing to act. Wisdom is using what you have while time is still in your favor. Remember, time itself is a talent. Every day you delay is a resource buried. God is not asking you to produce five overnight. He is asking you to be faithful now. Use your measure. Grow your skill. Steward your season. Promotion follows obedience. Always.
