I Wanna Wish You A Merry Christmas

Christmas has been slowly secularised, packaged, and sold back to us as a season of vibes, shopping, food, and empty nostalgia. As believers, we must consciously resist that drift. Christmas is not about aesthetics or consumption; it is a declaration. Jesus is the reason for the season, and saying it must go beyond slogans. We owe it to ourselves, and to the world watching us, to proclaim clearly what this day represents. This season marks God stepping into history, not as an idea, but as a person with a mission. If Christ is central to our faith, He must remain central to our celebrations.

Part of resisting secularisation is rejecting the consumerism and distortion that now define the season. Not every Christmas story being streamed deserves your attention. Many reduce Jesus to a harmless symbol or a sentimental character, stripped of His authority, sacrifice, and kingship. Be intentional about what you consume. Choose Scripture over caricature. Choose truth over convenience. Christmas is not meant to distract you, but to draw you back to Him. The more we allow Hollywood and Nollywood to redefine the story, the more we lose sight of why the story matters at all.

This Christmas Day, reclaim the moment. Be intentional about making it about Jesus, and not the party Jollof rice. After eating, open your Bible with family and friends. Read the story. Discuss who Jesus is, what He means to you and your family. What does Jesus represent in your daily life? Reflect on how scripture guides your decisions, your work, and your witness. Renew your commitment to His mission on earth. Let the day be more than eating and drinking. Let it be remembrance, alignment, and devotion. A Merry Christmas is not one filled with noise, but one centered on Christ.
