Tottenham Hotspur ended their long wait for a major trophy by lifting the Europa Cup on Wednesday night, their first silverware since 2008. But beyond the headlines, the story of head coach Ange Postecoglou stands out. In September 2024, he boldly said, “I always win things in my second year. Nothing has changed. I don’t say things unless I believe them.” It sounded like empty confidence to some. But now, in May 2025, he has delivered exactly what he promised. In a world full of doubters, Postecoglou’s quiet confidence, rooted in experience and vision, has paid off.
What sets Postecoglou apart is the mindset of a true winner. He revealed that after the January transfer window, he made a firm decision: this trophy was the goal. From that point, every training session, tactical choice, and team selection was aimed at winning the Europa Cup. It wasn’t easy. It cost the club valuable momentum in the Premier League. But the manager had counted the cost and stayed the course. This is the mindset every purpose-driven Christian should adopt. Clear focus, strategic choices, and bold commitment. You won’t win by accident. You win by intention.
Jesus spoke of counting the cost before building (Luke 14:28). That’s exactly what Ange did. And it’s what you must do in your calling and career. Whether it’s a business, ministry, or any mission God has placed in your heart, you must make tough choices. You won’t be able to do everything. But if you focus, plan, and work with the end in mind, your reward will come. Just like Ange Postecoglou, dare to believe. Dare to build. Dare to win. Because when you trust God, make decisions with clarity, and stay consistent, you will reap your reward in due time (Galatians 6:9).
