How long did you give your last big idea before you abandoned it? A week? Three weeks? Maybe a month? If you’re serious about success, then hear this—you must commit at least 1,000 hours before even thinking about quitting. This is important. There comes a time in your life when you decide to stick to something until you can begin to understand the time investment it requires for success. Life is hard. It takes a lot of time, focus and resilience to get anything done. Deciding to focus full-time on something for 1,000 hours (125 full-time workdays) will change you for the better.
A thousand hours changes everything. In that time, you could master the fundamentals, create a real impact, and actually see results. Can you honestly say you’ve put in that level of focus on anything? Or do you bounce around, moving on the moment it gets tough? You are not lacking vision. You don’t need new ideas. The problem is that you are lacking endurance. According to Hebrews 6:12, it takes hard work, faith and patience to obtain the promise. Proverbs 12:24 says, The hand of the diligent will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor.
Most people waste years dabbling. They started and stopped, starting and stopping. Never sticking with anything long enough to break through. And why? Because of distractions. Shiny new ideas. The illusion that some other idea can deliver results faster. But if you don’t lock in and commit, you will never build anything that lasts. So, here’s the challenge: pick one thing and give it 1,000 focused hours. Not half-hearted effort. Not “when you feel like it.” All in. Pray and work on it 8 hours a day for 125 days. Every single day. No excuses. No second-guessing. This is the commitment that will change your life.
