Everything rises or falls based on leadership. You will maximize your potential if you have access to top-tier mentors and coaches. The 2026 FIFA World Cup has had moments showing this truth. Ghana’s disciplined goalless draw against England has been widely credited to the tactical experience of coach Carlos Queiroz. Four years earlier, Saudi Arabia shocked the football world by defeating Argentina at the 2022 World Cup under the leadership of Herve Renard. The players already had talent, but talent alone was not enough. Someone had to see what they could become, prepare them, correct them, and position them for success. Behind many surprising victories, there is a coach.
Scripture teaches the same truth. When the young king Uzziah began to reign, he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God. The Bible says, “As long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper” (2 Chronicles 26:5). Later, when Uzziah grew strong, pride entered his heart and he stumbled badly. A coach is more than a teacher. A coach provides accountability, perspective, correction, and wisdom. Many people do not fail because they lack gifts. They fail because nobody is close enough to stop them from doing nonsense.
Galatians 4:1-2 talks about how a son is placed under tutors and governors until the date set by the father. God places a premium on coaching. You need to be honest about who is coaching you? Who can question your decisions, challenge your assumptions, and remind you of God’s standards when emotions run high? Some people pray for breakthroughs while resisting guidance. Others want influence but reject accountability. Football teams pursuing good success on the field never associate with mediocre coaches. Why are you indifferent to the quality of coaching available to you? You need someone that can bring out the best in you.
