God has given each of us unique gifts. Some are spiritual; prophecy, discernment, teaching. Others show up as creativity, in inventiveness, design, problem-solving, music or even leadership. These gifts are not random; they are heaven’s investment in us for the sake of others. But here’s the danger: gifts can be powerful, yet fragile. If we are not careful, we can mess it up. We can become careless with the gift, misusing it for fame, profit, or pride. When the gift becomes more about us than about God’s kingdom, we’re already on the wrong path.
Another danger is to mix it up. That is, to confuse natural talent for divine calling, or to mistake hype for anointing. Some people confuse ambition with purpose. They start using their gift to chase what the world celebrates, not what God is asking for. We must be discerning and prayerful. Romans 12:6 reminds us to use our gifts according to the grace given to us. When grace is not guiding, confusion enters. And when we try to copy others instead of walking in our lane, the beauty and power of our own assignment is lost.
Finally, we pray not to miss it altogether. Life can get busy. Pressure can be loud. Sometimes, people bury their gifts because they feel inadequate or unsure. But remember the servant who hid his talent in the ground; he was called wicked, not just lazy (Matthew 25:18,26). God has given you something precious. A message. A melody. A movement. Don’t waste it. Pray for clarity, humility, and boldness. Ensure your eyes remain steadfast on Jesus. May you not mess it up. May you not mix it up. May you not miss it. The world is waiting. Heaven is watching.
