We are living in the age of visibility. Everyone wants to be seen, followed, admired. Even if there’s not much to show behind the scenes. Influence has become a goal in itself, instead of being the outcome of a life of impact. But the truth is, real influence comes at a price. It is not something you stumble into; it is something you grow into. If your greatest goal is to trend, you may win attention but lose authenticity. The danger is that when your life is not rooted in real value, the spotlight will expose your lack of substance.
God’s original instruction to man was not to chase influence, but to be fruitful (Genesis 1:28). He blessed us and said, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it.” Fruitfulness is productivity. It means you are creating, building, solving, or helping. When you are fruitful. When your life produces something good, helpful, excellent, and lasting, then multiplication (influence) is a natural result. You don’t have to hustle your way into relevance. You just need to consistently offer value. Influence is not something you pursue; it’s something you attract by who you become and what you produce.
Trends come and go, but class is permanent. Influence that’s not rooted in value will fade as quickly as it came. You have better things to do than showing up day after day, trying to beat the algorithm. Hoping to go viral. Focus on substance. Don’t just aim to be heard, aim to be helpful. Don’t just chase numbers, chase meaning. Let your life be a seed in God’s hands. Let Him water your growth, prune your pride, and shape your fruit. In time, you’ll find that your voice will carry weight, not just volume. Remember: if you stay fruitful, influence will follow you.
